Our Application

Pokemon Go has a very large community in France.

Niantic has asked its community to find cities that could host an event in 2020, by sharing our suggested parks on Twitter or Instagram using the # NianticLive2020 and explaining why we think it would make a great event.

Many cities around the world are in full competition to try to get an event!

We wish to bring Pokemon Go Fest to Lyon.

The essential criteria

Here are the essential criteria Niantic has given us in order to establish an ideal application.

It is composed of various spaces such as a rose garden, a zoo, a botanical garden, a lake of 160,000m², an island, a deer park, glass greenhouses, an African reserve where several animal species roam and a forest of Asia (coming in 2020). Little anecdote: the Tête d'Or Park was born the same year as Central Park in New York.

The Tete d'Or Park is located in the center of the Metropole Lyonnaise.

Are festivals allowed within the park?

As the year progresses, the park hosts many annual events such as the Festival of Lights or the Open Park, a tennis tournament.

Is the park located in a secure area?

For the organization of the above events, a security perimeter is set up. In addition, the park has 8 entries that can be filtered by security officers during the event. In addition, the park as a whole is fenced. Finally, if Niantic does not wish to include the zoo, it can be closed.

Are there dates available for the organization of an event?

Yes, dates are available all year round to organize the event.

Are there hotels near the park? Is it well served by public transport?

There are hotels near the park and throughout the city. Bus stops from the TCL (public transport service) are located at every entrance of the park. 2 tram stops and 2 subways stops are merely 5 minutes away by foot. In addition, the access from Part-Dieu station, which welcomes nearly 30 million travelers a year, to the park, is in less than 15 minutes thanks to the trams or the subway B, which will be entirely renovated by the end of 2019.

Would the city and the police departments be in favor of organizing an event in this park?

With the help of the petition, we want the city and the police to recognize our application and support us. Technically speaking, the organization of an event of such magnitude is totally conceivable because the city already hosts major events regularly.
